Wrestling isn’t supposed to end like this.
Not for a legend.
Not for Sabu.
Last week, while in Las Vegas covering the WrestleMania chaos, I met someone I now consider a brother—Sergio, a fan, insider, and someone who happened to be there, front row, for what is now being called Sabu’s last match. He handed us exclusive footage. Never-before-seen. Never-before-shown. And I’ll be honest with you: It broke me.
This wasn’t the Sabu we grew up watching defy physics and logic in ECW.
This wasn’t the icon who turned chairs, tables, and blood into poetry.
This was a man—a broken, limping legend—who should have never stepped into that ring.
🩸 The Footage
In the video, Sabu stumbles walking to the ring—not selling, not working the crowd, just physically struggling.
You can hear the uncertainty in the audience.
You can feel the tension.
Then it happens:
Sabu goes for a spot. A move that should have been reworked or scrapped entirely.
Instead, his head slams onto the concrete.
There’s no working that.
There’s no “angle” to protect.
Blood pours. Not the kind that pops the crowd. The kind that makes you sick.
The kind that makes you question everything you ever loved about this industry.
And in that moment, I thought: This is not professional wrestling. This is exploitation.
🧿 “He Didn’t Want To Do It” – Online Rumors Point to a Darker Truth
Multiple sources online claim Sabu didn’t want to go through with the match. That he voiced concerns. That his body was failing him. That he was forced, persuaded, or guilted into doing this final appearance.
If that’s true, then everyone who played a role in this—everyone who booked it, promoted it, sold it as a “dream” event—should be ashamed.
A match card shouldn’t be a death sentence.
⚰️ He Deserved a Tribute—Not a Tragedy
Sabu should have had his final bow in front of thousands, with respect, love, and a standing ovation.
Instead, he was left bleeding on a cold floor, while the crowd looked on in horror, unsure if what they were witnessing was real.
I’ll say it straight: This was negligent. This was shameful. This was not okay.
We at WrestlingChimp will not sanitize what happened.
We will not spin it as a “warrior’s exit.”
We stand for wrestling—but not when it becomes abuse.
🙏 Final Thoughts
To Sabu: You gave more to this industry than it ever gave you back.
You inspired generations. You made the impossible feel real.
You deserved so much more than what happened in Las Vegas.
And I pray the people responsible for that night feel the weight of what they allowed.
This was not “extreme.”
This was not “hardcore.”
This was exploitation of a broken legend for a quick buck.
Shame on those who let it happen.
